The chairman of the Democratic Party Mr. Yesterday, on 11/05/2020, Lulzim Basha invited yesterday, on 11/05/2020, the representatives of the Albanian Manuifacturers Union to a working meeting.
In the meeting, the representatives of the association expressed their concerns about the progress of the Albanian economy and especially about the acute problems that it will face after the Covid-19 pandemic.
Albanian producers, with representatives from the food production and processing industry, construction materials, textiles, leather, recycling and plastics, expressed their concern about the government's lack of support for the manufacturing sector, although they have presented their demands since the first days of the pandemic.
The significant decrease in production and exports, accompanied by the loss of jobs, have affected the vast majority of manufacturing businesses. The main concerns of Albanian manufacturers, which were emphasized during the conversation, were:
1. The impossibility of saving jobs, emphasizing the fact that the government packages have been purely social in nature and not in support of the real economy.
2. The lack of liquidity in the production chain as the sovereign guarantee is not only inaccessible but does not even respond to the real needs faced by the business, while at the same time the government still has unpaid VAT to the business for a significant amount.
3. The lack of dialogue and constructive government-business negotiation process, since until today the government has organized informative meetings, but has not built a dialogue and negotiation platform to agree on economic support measures.
